Signups pushed one week

We are pushing back the signup period one week to accommodate more signups in light of the Christmas and New Years holidays.

Some people are apparently still on holiday (but why??). So this is hurting our signups pretty bad. We only have 89 so far and it is not even close to what we had last season.

So we decided to push the signup period one more week, in hopes that we can reach at minimum last seasons signup numbers. But I would really like if we reached the goals we set out for this season, so we can get more teams in each division.

The new deadline for signups is Saturday, January 12th. 2013

We aren't really getting much feedback from the community. The forum is quiet, the comment replies here are a bare minimum, so all we have to go on is the signup numbers. If there is a general reason as to why people are not signing up, that we can do something about, please let us know and we will consider all feedback.

Hopefully it is all holiday jitters and we will see some last week-signups coming in. I am getting pretty anxious for some draft action again. I would hate to wait as long as we did last year =)

A change has been made to the signup form as well. It is no longer an option to restrict yourself to a lower division. You can select "only div1" or "any div". We do not want potential mid/low players that might get picked in div1 teams, to limit themselves to div2.

On the signup list you can see who played last season, but did not signup. Go poke them and other QuakeWorld friends you might have, that you think would be interested in playing in the draft. We are super active during the draft seasons and there is a ton of tight games.

It would be interesting to highlight new signups, players that didnt signup for salvation2, on the player list. Now you have to look for them manually.

We failed to see the relevance. The only reason why the "missing" players tab is there is to make it easier for people who actually cruise around the scene every once in a while to notice one of their friends not participating the coming season.

I agree and it might even help captains in terms of letting them just slot new players into their personal seeding lists from last season (although of course I'd expect any captain to be re-evaluating their list anyway, but it might give them a 'starter for 10').

In terms of the signup deadline it might bring in a few more casual players I guess who aren't actively participating in the scene every day or at least not over the holiday period. But you'd hope most people interested and who will be commited to showing up every week would have signed up by now.

From my personal perspective it is probably a good thing to have a bit of extra time before the season starts to get some mix games in as I havent played for 4 weeks.

An idea that sprung from this is however to add the place where the players were picked last season, in other words a number correlating to the place where they were picked up. This should give all captains a good idea on a base for a seedlist. If player x was picked up early and underperformed, it is easy for that captain to reseed him lower. Since players who didnt participate last season won´t get a number, it will be obvious who are new to the present season. Also it will save time for the admins who usually have their hands full during and pre-season to be able to have a simple page available for everyone to see, not just the captains, where the seeding is basically done, leaving some interesting decisions for each individual captain.
